The Suck City Rock’n Roller Dolls are a group of fearless, powerful and ruthless women who represent Breda Suck City in the thrilling sport of Roller Derby.

What is Roller Derby?

Roller Derby is a team sport performed by women on original quad skates, which was founded in Austin, Texas. Roller Derby is all about speed, endurance and tactics. Roller derby is a full contact sport played by two teams of five members roller skating in the same direction around a flat track. Game play consists of a number of short matches (“jams”) in which both teams designate a scoring player (the “jammer”) who scores points by lapping members of the opposing team. The teams attempt to assist their own jammer while hindering the opposing jammer — in effect, playing both offense and defense simultaneously.

About Suck City Rock’n Roller Dolls

Founded in May 2012, the Suck City Rock’n Roller Dolls is the twelfth Roller Derby league in the Netherlands. The league started with seven enthusiastic dolls and is now as big as 30 active members. Practicing twice a week, Suck City Rock’n Roller Dolls want to become the most successful Roller Derby league in the Netherlands. But, first things first. Practice hard, improve skills and get bout-ready!

The Name

Suck City is a name that Rock & Roll Breda has given to the town, to be precise, the rock band Speedcocks. Because Roller Derby is very Rock & Roll, the founders soon agreed that Suck City at least had to be part of the league name. The rest speaks for itself.

We are currently trying to find a better practice location. The main thing we look for in a location is a suitable floor (preferably concrete) and enough space for future bouts, bootcamps, open trainings, workshops and a roller disco. Suggestions can be sent to locations@rollerderbybreda.com.
